Major football club modernizes its tax management on SAP S/4HANA with TTAX’s Tax Reform Suite

Managing one of the most valuable brands in Brazilian football requires a corporate structure that extends far beyond the pitch. Driven by a highly complex business model — which encompasses the commercialization of broadcasting rights, global sponsorships, product licensing, high-turnover ticket sales, and club membership management — this giant of national sports handles a massive volume of financial and tax transactions daily.

To support this growth and ensure the governance of its operations, the institution initiated one of the most strategic projects in its technological history: the migration of its legacy ERP, SAP ECC, to the next-generation platform, SAP S/4HANA.

The Challenge

During the design phase of the S/4HANA migration project, the club encountered a major hurdle: the fiscal solution they were using in the ECC ecosystem did not meet the new standards of performance, usability, and modernity required by the next-generation ERP. Keeping the legacy vendor would mean carrying over obsolete custom developments (technical debt) and facing high readjustment costs.

The board of directors and the IT team needed to leverage the ERP migration window to execute a complete technological turnaround. They required a new tax partner that could guarantee:

  • Immediate and secure replacement of the legacy solution, without causing delays in the S/4HANA Go-Live schedule.

  • Native compliance with the SAP platform’s new technologies (such as the Fiori ecosystem), eliminating parallel systems or screen switching.

  • Preparation for the future, structuring the club’s new tax foundation to absorb the regulatory impact of the imminent Tax Reform (IBS and CBS).

It was with this focus on excellence and modernization that TTAX was chosen to lead the institution’s fiscal project.

The Solution

TTAX implemented an integrated ecosystem that not only replaced the previous tool with absolute security, but also elevated the club’s compliance standards. The strategy was designed across crucial phases:

1. TaxOrion Fiscal Solution and Native Messaging

At the exact moment of the S/4HANA migration, TTAX took over operations by replacing the legacy vendor with the TaxOrion Fiscal Solution combined with the Messaging system. Developed in native language (ABAP/Fiori), TaxOrion now runs directly within the club’s new ERP. The messaging engine assumed control of the outbound flow with maximum speed, ensuring the stable issuance of service and product invoices (licensing, official stores, and events) without any interruption during the system cutover.

2. Tax Reform-Ready Suite

By adopting the TTAX ecosystem on S/4HANA, the club permanently eliminated the risk of obsolescence regarding the country’s new laws. The Tax Reform Suite was natively integrated into the platform, allowing the institution to simulate scenarios and be 100% prepared for Dual VAT (IBS/CBS) calculations and Split Payment rules without needing to spend on future development projects or consultancies.

3. Inbound Automation with Easy4 (In Progress)

With the outbound and compliance foundation consolidated on S/4HANA, the project advanced to its next strategic phase. Currently, the Easy4 module for SAP DF-e Inbound is in the implementation phase. This tool will completely automate the capture and booking of invoices from the club’s suppliers and service providers, eliminating manual labor in goods receipt and contract management.

The Result

The replacement of the legacy solution with TTAX’s technology during the S/4HANA migration delivered significant results for the club’s management:

  • Seamless Migration: The change in tax software vendors occurred within the timeline of the global S/4HANA project, ensuring that the club launched operations on the new ERP with fully operational billing and compliance workflows.

  • Modernization of the Tax Interface: The club’s accounting and finance teams left outdated tools behind and transitioned to modern, agile, and intuitive Fiori screens, reducing the execution time of daily tax routines.

  • Security Against Regulatory Changes: Unlike the scenario with the legacy solution, the club now relies on a fiscal suite automatically updated by TTAX for the Tax Reform, guaranteeing cost predictability and legal shielding.

  • Continuous Evolution: With the Easy4 project underway, the institution is on track to become one of the most automated clubs in the country regarding inbound tax processing, combining the passion of sports with the precision of cutting-edge technology.
